【Event Information】May 30: Talk Session Co-hosted with the Association for Korean Studies in Japan, “Prospects for Sustainable Japan–Korea Relations from the Perspective of International Reconciliation Studies”
On Friday, May 30, 2026, the 30th Regular Research Meeting of the Association for Korean Studies in Japan will be held at Waseda University.
From 14:00, a special talk session will take place, chaired by Dr. Tatsuya Maizawa (Kobe University) as a representative of early-career researchers. The session will feature Professor Toyomi Asano (Waseda University), Director of this project, and Professor Kijeong Nam (Seoul National University), who served as Executive Chair of last year’s International Association for Reconciliation Studies (IARS) conference held in Seoul, as panelists.
This discussion aims to explore pathways toward the stable and sustainable development of Japan–Korea relations, with particular emphasis on fostering mutual understanding of collective memory, which lies at the core of national integration. The session is positioned as an extension of the dialogue initiated at last year’s IARS conference in Seoul.
